NEXT COURSES:
Our RYA Youth Saturday Sailing Club sets sail on Saturday, March 1st, 2025, at 1:30 PM, and will continue every Saturday for 7 weeks, wrapping up on April 12th, 2025. Each 5-hour session will take place at Piddinghoe Lake and will offer a fun and engaging mix of sailing practice, learning new skills, and building on RYA techniques week by week. All sessions will include a short break in the middle to give sailors the chance to hydrate and catch up over some snacks, so don't forget to bring a packed lunched!

RYA Youth Stage 1 & 2 Dinghy Sailing
Operated from our lake in Piddinghoe, just 10 mins outside of Brighton. RYA stage 1 and 2 takes your child to a confident level of sailing, ready to sail solo. Our lake is safe and secure, it has wind but without the waves that are often over over whelming for kids when learning.

What to bring
Understanding the RYA Stage 1 Sailing Course: (approx. 16 hrs)
The RYA Stage 1 sailing course serves as an introduction to the world of sailing. It is suitable for beginners with little to no prior experience. During this course, participants will learn the basics of boat handling, including rigging, launching, and recovery. They will also gain an understanding of essential sailing terminology, wind awareness, and basic sailing techniques. By the end of the course, participants will be able to sail a dinghy in light winds under supervision.

What to bring
Understanding the RYA Stage 2 Sailing Course:
The stage 2 course is the next step, setting out the foundations of sailing for you, sailing ability along with theoretical knowledge is assumed to be up to stage 1 standard. The course consists of rigging a dinghy with minimal help, understanding how to launch a boat in different wind directions, and learning standard sailing manoeuvres. The course also covers essential safety knowledge to be used when sailing. Once stage 2 has been achieved the sailor will be able to sail and make decisions on and off the water in good conditions. Next stage 3 and/or race training.
