Advanced Dinghy Sailing - Improve, Practice and Race Training Courses

Going beyond RYA syllabus this is a course that can be tailor made to you, focusing on whichever skills you wish to develop. It focuses on taking your current sailing skills and developing them to make you a faster and more efficient sailor. This is a brilliant course to prepare you to either take further RYA courses, develop as a cruising sailor or provide an introduction to racing. 

 This course is run by experienced instructors who have an extensive background from international racing to dinghy cruising and everything in between. It is a chance for our instructors to share with you their love for this sport and show you just where sailing could potentially take you.

 In partnership with the Newhaven and Seaford Sailing Club, our instructors are also active club racers. The course takes place on a beautiful freshwater lake nestled in the heart of the picturesque Sussex Downs, with an easily accessible jetty for seamless transitions between on-land theory and on-water practice.

 We have designed two courses based on the skills and knowledge we anticipate you’ll want to develop. However, if you have specific areas you'd like to focus on, or you're a group of sailors, feel free to contact us. We can create a custom program for your needs or connect you with other sailors with similar goals.

 Progression from RYA Level 2 and Sailing Practice

Supervised by RYA racing coaches, we can help you relearn your forgotten skills, refine your dinghy handling, progress and practice.

·         Improving level 2 skills

·         Enhancing boat handling

·         Refinement of the 5 essentials

·         Understanding boat on boat interactions

·         Introduction to club racing or further cruising development

·         Training for further RYA courses

Development & Intro to Club Racing:

·         Boat handling in pressured situations during racing

·         Sail trim refinement

·         Sail controls

·         Use of the 5 essentials for racing

·         Basic introduction to race rules

·         Introduction to tactics and strategy

·         Understanding start sequences, signals and markers.

·         Spinnaker training

Time: 9am-5pm
