The Openwater RS1 Thermal Wetsuit is the wetsuit that provides the most thermal protection of the Orca range. It features a specially developed inner lining to maximize heat retention for open water swimming. It also has a second layer of “batwing" neoprene that provides more insulation down the zipper and neck areas, minimizing the inflow of cold water.

HIGHLIGHTS

EXTRA WARMTH
In the torso, Yamamoto 39 technology which is up to 5mm thick provides maximum thermal insulation where it is needed most, without affecting the positioning of the swimmer or restricting movement. This material provides 85% more insulation compared to not wearing a wetsuit. The Thermal X high-performance inner lining retains heat more efficiently than our standard linings. It is also comfortable and soft to the touch.

YAMAMOTO 40
Yamamoto 40 is used in the shoulders and back together with the Infinityskin lining. This material can stretch by up to 130%, more than double its original size, providing maximum performance in your swim stroke. For the wide range of movements that occur in the shoulders, it offers 72% less resistance than a conventional wetsuit.

"BATWING" CONSTRUCTION

To avoid heat loss in the back through the zipper, this model features a "Batwing" construction consisting of a second layer of neoprene. This layer prevents water from seeping through the zipper and coming into direct contact with the body, keeping a layer of warm water inside. It also guarantees a comfortable snug fit in the neck, reducing friction and water entry from the neck area into the suit.

THE TECHNOLOGIES

  • Yamamoto

    YAMAMOTO

Orca uses Yamamoto neoprene in all its products, a durable, lightweight and high-performance material. The construction of the panels and the combination of the various high-quality materials place our wetsuits at the forefront of the sector.

  • 40 CELL

Yamamoto 40 technology is the best neoprene on the market, not exclusive to Orca. Stretching this neoprene requires 72% less force than conventional neoprene.

  • 39 CELL

The Yamamoto 39 neoprene has high elasticity that allows it to be used in different areas of mid-range wetsuits. For fast, short-stroke movements, 35% less force is required than with conventional wetsuits. For slow, long-haul movements, 45% less force is required than with conventional wetsuits.

  • SUPER COMPOSITE SKIN (SCS)

The rest of the wetsuits in the Orca triathlon range include this treatment to guarantee optimal performance.

  • INFINITY SKIN 2

The Infinity Skin 2 inner lining provides a feeling of absolute freedom. Designed from a highelasticity nylon incorporating bamboo fibers, this technology is used in the lining of our wetsuit to provide greater flexibility in every stroke. It maintains body heat longer and reduces bad odors and the presence of bacteria in your neoprene. It is also composed of natural and environmentally sustainable materials, to avoid skin irritation and to care for the environment.

  • ULTIMATE SEAL COLLAR

The combination of laser cutting on the neck and the inverse Velcro reduces friction, preventing any abrasion on the skin.

    Size and Fit Guide

    • Wetsuits should feel snug on and you will probably feel that range of motion is slightly reduced, this is normal. However, make sure breathing doesn't feel restricted.
    • Wetsuit fit should not be too loose. This would let water flow freely through the suit and would therefore lose all the benefits of the trapped water being warmed by your body.
    • For a correct wetsuit fit, wrists, ankles and neck should be snug.
    • The fit should not be too baggy in the underarm or leg area. Some bagginess at the small of the back is normal.
